 In 1916, Litchfield Park was founded when Goodyear Tire and Rubber bought farm land to grow cotton for their tire manufacturing. The project was developed by Paul Litchfield, then a junior executive with Goodyear, and named after him in 1926. From 1931 to 1944, Litchfield Park was the test site for Goodyear auto, truck and tractor tires. In the 1960s, a master plan was created for developing several self-sufficient villages, and the benefits of that planning are still felt and seen throughout the community today. Litchfield Park was incorporated in 1987.
Litchfield Park is a unique small town within the booming West Valley with a casual feel and lifestyle. Many residents feel as though they live in an enclave with shady street and mature neighborhoods ranging from new home developments to large estates.
The area boasts of many attractions including the White Tanks Regional Park and its unusual petroglyphs, Estrella Mountain Regional Park with world class golf, hiking and biking, the Wigwam Resort and the Wildlife World Zoo, as well as it major employer, Luke Air Force Base.
